SELLmatix running in restaurant mode is designed for high speed efficient operations so that processing times and the work performed by the operator is reduced to the minimum.

Many restaurant Point of Sale systems are designed to look fancy and impressive, but have been based on a narrow design philosophy that forces operators to follow processing sequences which might be OK on some sites, but in many others the restrictions hamper operations.

SELLmatix is derived from various Point of Sale systems we have developed since the mid 1980's where extremely fast and efficient operation is essential. Some sites running our software process an average of almost 2 transactions per minute, 24/7/365.

This design philosophy resulted in SELLmatix being one of the fastest, most flexible Point of Sale systems for restaurant use with an extremely heavy emphasis in getting the job done in the fastest most efficient manner with the absolute minimum of humbug.

Countless features right through the system result in faster, more efficient performance. For example, the operator can print the bill for any table while they are in the middle of entering another order. No need to finish the current order, or park it and retrieve it later. And immediately after printing the account they continue on where they left off.

Another feature that increases throughput is the ability to enter up to 4 orders at the same time. If the operator is entering a lengthy order, and they want to quickly enter something for another table they can switch with a single touch process the other order and resume where they left off with another touch.

These features result in faster service, better service, higher table turns more satisfied customers and higher profits.

SELLmatix is also one of the most flexible and powerful restaurant point of sale systems and includes features such as:-

  • the ability to use handheld Pocket PC's so that orders are sent to the kitchen/bar automatically via a wireless connection. This also allows you to give waiters which sell most effectively the handheld terminals so that they take the orders, while other waiters that are less effective at upselling deliver the dishes and clear tables.
  • The ability to use up to 9 kitchen or bar printers to print orders. Many systems allow you to use as few as two.
  • multilingual operation so that orders can be taken in one language, and printed in the kitchen in another language, even with a non-western character set.
  • the ability to use up to 64 POS terminals at the one site so that orders can be entered or added to from any one of the terminals.
  • Up to 5 different price levels, so that you can easily switch prices at different times of the day, or run different prices in various parts of the establishment.

For example, in a hotel, you may run one price level in the public bar, another in the lounge bar, another in the bottle shop and another in the restaurant.

  • the ability for the customer to move through various parts of the establishment and have their account "follow" them. For example, they may start in the public bar, move to the restaurant, and finish in the lounge, with all their purchases on the one account.
  • Of course SELLmatix allows customers to split their bills and have the cost of some items split between the guests at the table.
  • SELLmatix also allows any number of custom modifiers to be added to the order, and for common variations, single touch modifiers can be set up so that operating speed is optimised.
The most important feature of SELLmatix for restaurants is the elegant simplicity. For example, some other restaurant packages go overboard with gimmicks such as displaying a graphical representation of the layout of the restaurant which is used to select tables. While this may look pretty, it dramatically increases the amount of work, and the cost, of setting up the system. Not only that, but moving tables, combining tables or changing the layout of the restaurant becomes a major task.

SELLmatix on the other hand simply uses table or location numbers. The simple, age old method that works reliably and simply without any fuss. Every waiter can deal with a table number.

Changes on SELLmatix are fast and easy as well. On other handheld restaurant systems, changing the graphics and the way the operators navigate the system when the menu changes, is a major task that can take hours.

With SELLmatix PocketPos, when menu changes are made on the controller, they are automatically updated on the Pocket PC. Instead of spending hours changing the Pocket PC configuration, the work you need to do is precisely... nothing!

Other restaurant POS systems tend to use either a small "desktop" computer database that cannot be easily expanded, or else the use high end expensive databases running on a server. These are expensive.

SELLmatix however uses our own internally developed distributed databases which have processed millions of transactions reliably, and can scale seamlessly from small single computer systems right up to heavy duty multi user and multi terminal systems.

Even better, you don't have to pay five years or 10 years of software license in advance, and then see if it will do what you want. Instead you can pay as you go, and start small and grow.
